accoleo was an early accommodation-sharing platform that was later acquired by Airbnb. My contribution focused on the location layer: geolocation search, geocoding and reverse geocoding, and Google Maps integration.
The project provided an early lesson in building with external representations of the physical world. Addresses, coordinates, and search intent rarely align perfectly, so the product has to make uncertainty understandable rather than assume the underlying service is exact. That sensitivity to boundaries between user language and system data remains relevant in search and retrieval work today.
