Realm

Realm sat at an important boundary in mobile development: an embedded database exposed through platform-native SDKs, later connected to the Realm Mobile Platform. Reliability had to extend beyond core storage behavior into API design, authentication, packaging, documentation, and support. A change in one layer could affect developers across a broad range of devices and application architectures.

My contribution crossed those layers. I delivered features and fixes in the Cocoa SDKs, designed synchronization authentication across backend services and SDKs, and worked on Realm Mobile Platform services in Node.js and Go. I also contributed to APIs, documentation, technical support, CocoaPods distribution, sales engineering, and conference talks for the international developer community.

The breadth of the role made developer experience concrete. Documentation and support were not downstream explanations of engineering work; they were evidence about whether the abstraction was sound. That continues to influence how I approach platforms today: an interface is only successful when another team can understand it, operate it, and recover when its assumptions meet reality.
